Chinese New Year

This year we celebrated the Chinese New Year holiday (Jan. 23 - Feb. 1st) by, once again, leaving the chaos that is China at this time.  Don't get me wrong, the Chinese New Year in Beijing should be one of the wonders of the world.  Trying to describe the number of fireworks or deafening sound that lasts for days on end would be futile.  We saw it once, in 2006, but have used the long holiday ever since to explore further afield.  Last year we visited Northern Vietnam with Derek and Stacey Mitchell and decided to join forces again this year to hit Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam (aka Saigon) and Cambodia.  Stacey wins the MVP for missing a week of the 9-month Doctoral program she is currently undertaking at NYU and travelling 24 hours each way in order to celebrate the New Year together again.  Yeah Stacey!!

The following is a summary of our trip along with some pictures.

Happy Year of the Ox!!
